The European Association for Potato Research (EAPR) is an organization, formally constituted in 1957, of people working in, or with an interest in, potato research.

The Association has the following aims:

To promote the exchange between various countries, both in and outside Europe, of scientific and general information relating to all facets of potato growing and utilization;

To encourage and assist international cooperation in this field.

These aims are achieved through:

a. Sections

Over the period since the founding of EAPR the Association has been very much enhanced by the activities of the Sections which have performed the invaluable function of promoting interchange of knowledge within specific disciplines. When a new section chairman is elected, he or she may not be familiar with some of the procedures and activities of the sections which they have been asked to lead.Notes have been provided as a guide to these procedures.
The Association has seven sections: agronomy&physiology, breeding and varietal assessment, engineering, pathology, utilization, and virology.
The sections meet regularly to discuss problems and results of research. They set up working groups for the study of special problems, for standardizing methods of research or terminology, etc.

b. Triennial Conferences

Every three years, the Association organizes a conference in a different European country. During these conferences lecture sessions are held and there are excursions and partners' programmes. The conferences offer the opportunity for those interested in the potato crop to meet colleagues from all over the world, engaged in every type of work relating to the potato crop.

c. The official journal “Potato Research”

The Association publishes a journal, Potato Research, which includes original scientific contributions on both fundamental and applied research on potatoes, review articles and topics of general interest. It also contains Association news and reports on section meetings (including abstracts of papers presented).

A volume of the Journal (usually approximately 450 pages), consists of four issues, published in the same year. Submission of manuscripts is exclusively online via a web-based electronic submission and tracking system. The web address is: https://www.editorialmanager.com/potr
